Joseph Randle the Cowboys starting running back up to this point has been demoted by the team. Randle suffered an oblique strain but was struggling to put together 4 consistent, productive quarters of football.
Randle now is also facing a suspension from the NFL for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy for marijuana possession. Randle had the charges dropped and moved on however the NFL had not. A one or two game suspension plus a fine could be likely however that is just an example of how a bad day can get worse real fast. Randle now will likely be looking at snaps behind Christine Michael as Darren McFadden has become the starter.
Even if McFadden proves to be a good DeMarco Murray replacement as we head into the latter half of the season, one has to assume running back is high on the Cowboys list this upcoming free agency and the 2016 NFL Draft. If Christine Michael finally makes some plays the Cowboys could do without Randle much like they did against the Giants.
Randle has irked the Cowboys with his string of off the field issues however this could be the last straw. As we approach the trade deadline it makes you wonder if the Cowboys are looking at any running backs in particular to help even out this group. Doug Martin has a contract expiring at the end of the season, and Matt Forte will likely be looking for a new home.
It could be in the Cowboys best interest to trade for a known commodity at running back if they have any playoff aspirations left.
