The Miami Dolphins are coming into Thursday night football with confidence after winning the last two games and Ryan Tannehill is hot after winning the AFC player of the week. The Pats have a solid defense, but Tannehill, Rishard Matthews, Jordan Cameron and Jarvis Landry remain solid fantasy football start options for Week 8.
The Dolphins are back at .500 after starting 1-3 on the season and they have played much better under interim coach Dan Campbell than they did under Joe Philbin. The defense has been playing with more energy and the offense put on a display last week against the Texans, putting up 44 points, including a 41-0 halftime lead. The opponents the team has played do not compare to the Patriots, but wins over the Titans and the Texans are still wins in the standings.
Tannehill is facing a tougher defense, but he also is coming in hot after going 18-of-19 for 282 yards and four touchdowns against Houston. Tannehill completed 25 passes straight over the last two games to set an NFL record and he now has 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions this season. Tannehill started off the season well before struggling a bit and he is starting to turn things around along with the Dolphins. The Patriots come in after winning over the Jets and they will be trying to get another divisional victory.
The Dolphins have gone 2-0 since Joe Philbin was fired and it has also coincided with Lamar Miller getting hot. Miller had a huge game last week with 175 yards rushing against Houston and overall he had 236 yards and two touchdowns. Miller now has 419 yards rushing this season and he has two touchdowns and he should get some work against a solid Patriots defense. Even with that matchup, Miller is worth starting.
Tannehill had a great game last week and he will try and keep that going against the Patriots. Tannehill has 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions this season and he is completing over 60 percent of his passes. Tannehill had a career season last year and he is looking to build on that this season. Matthews has been a solid player for fantasy owners this season and he comes in after putting up 75 yards and a TD last week. Matthews has 26 catches this season and four TDs.
Landry has been one of the most explosive players this season and he comes in after making five catches for two touchdowns last week. Landry has scored a rushing, receiving and return touchdown this season. Cameron is a solid TE option and he has 17 catches for 223 yards and one TD this season.
