The two players expected to qualify for the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour Finals in London will lock horns as Roger Federer takes on the tenacious David Ferrer.
Both players won their opening matches against Tipsarevic and Del Potro respectively, and neither will want to give the other the advantage in what is expected to be a tough battle.
"I will try to do my best," Ferrer said of the match against Federer. "I will play with the best in history. I think I will have to play very aggressive all the time for to have a chance to beat him.
"I am positive. Always am. It's good, I had one day to rest. I am playing with confidence with my game in the end of the season. I won in Valencia, Paris Bercy. I feel good."
Ferrer will go through to the semis if he beats Federer and Del Potro gets the better of Tipsarevic in the late match. Federer will advance if he defeats Ferrer in two sets and or if the Swiss wins with Tipsarevic beating Del Potro.
The Swiss master, defending champion here in London, reminisced on his first ever ATP World Tour Finals (then called the Master Cup) experience way back in 2003 in Shanghai. "I remember being extremely excited having qualified so when I played Juan Carlos (Ferrero), who was sort of my age, I was very excited," Federer said.
"That was a big moment for me because I was hoping to do well and increase my ranking. That's exactly what it did. I think I finished sixth in the world that year. I have really great memories from that tournament."
Federer lost to Lleyton Hewitt in the semi-finals that year, but went on to garner the title in Houston next year. "That was obviously a huge breakthrough for me because I thought I was in the toughest group with (David) Nalbandian, Ferrero and (Andre) Agassi, all three baseline players," Federer added.
"It's like the worst situation for me because I used to like to come in, keep the rallies short.
"I just lost to Nalbandian at the U.S. Open before that, but I decided that I'll try to play him from the baseline and see if it works. Next thing you know, I was beating Agassi in the final as well.
"That gave me an amazing confidence. It was definitely one of the big tournaments for me, turning it around, playing much better from the baseline than I actually thought I could."
