Novak Djokovic will go for his third-straight win in the ATP World Tour Finals when he faces off against Tomas Berdych in their final match of Group A.
Djokovic has beaten both Jo Wilfried-Tsonga and Andy Murray, in another close encounter, at the O2 Arena so far, and the Serbian will seal top spot in Group A and with it also a semi-final place with victory over his Czech opponent.
There are way too many scenarios that will come into play on who qualifies, with Jo-Wilfired Tsonga, who is yet to win a match, also in the mix as the Frenchman takes on Andy Murray in the late match.
Berdych, who beat Tsonga in his last match, is not too concerned with the various scenarios that might spring up, and just wants to concentrate on getting a win over Djokovic. "I don't like mathematics," fifth seed Berdych told reporters. "Tennis is not like football when you can play for a draw in the match. It's one or the other, that's it."
Berdych knows he will need to be at his absolute best against the world number one, if he is to stand a chance of picking up a win, which will then put the pressure on Murray. "I will try to play tennis, and that's it," he added. "I will try my best.
"But Novak (has) just shown how great he's playing right now and that he deserves to be No. 1 player in the world. It's a huge challenge for me. But on the other hand, he already has two wins, so let's see what's going to be in that last match."
In his previous match, Djokovic and Murray put on another show, with the former eventually prevailing coming from a set down to score a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win.
"I don't think I played bad in the first set, it was him playing really well, serving extremely well," Djokovic said of the match against Murray. "He lost only a couple of points on his first serve or the whole set; that says enough about his quality.
"Then he made a few unforced errors, he let me back into the match and then I think it was quite even up to the final point.
"It was important for me, dropping the first set, to stay mentally tough and believe I could get my opportunities and when they're presented to try to step in and use them.
"I didn't expect anything less than a tough match that went down to the wire and was decided in the last point."
The Serbian will be hoping for an easier outing against Berdych.
