NFL Rumors and News Week 10: Rex Ryan Names IK Enemkpali Captain For Buffalo Bills Game Against NY Jets

The NFL Week 10 schedule has the Buffalo Bills taking on the New York Jets and Rex Ryan has added some drama to the game, naming IK Enemkpali a captain for the matchup. Enemkpali previously broke the jaw of quarterback Geno Smith while he was with the Jets and he was later signed by Ryan for the Bills.

According to Pro Football Talk, Ryan is making Enemkpali a captain for the game against the Jets and while on its face it looks like a jab against the Jets (no pun intended) it follows what Ryan usually does in games. PFT writes that Ryan usually makes players who previously played for an opponent a captain in that game and that is what he is doing with Enemkpali. Ryan said to the media on Monday that "I do this all the time" and that he wasn't worried about any backlash.

Enemkpali has not done much with the Bills, registering two total tackles in three games played. Enemkpali and Smith had a dispute over money earlier in the year that resulted in a fight, with Enemkpali breaking Smith's jaw and putting him on the sidelines for a number of weeks. Smith has played a bit since coming back, but Ryan Fitzpatrick remains the starter for the Jets, even with his hand injury. Fitzpatrick is in line to start against the Bills and he reportedly will have surgery soon on his hand.

The Bills come into the game dealing with some injuries, as Percy Harvin was placed on injured reserve for Buffalo and is now done for the season. Harvin's future with the Bills is up in the air moving forward, as the team could consider voiding the last two years of his deal. Harvin had just 19 catches for 218 yards in five games while dealing with knee and hip injuries. Sammy Watkins returned this week after being out for the Bills and had a big game, going for eight catches for 168 yards and one touchdown.

Fitzpatrick is getting the start again for the Jets despite dealing with a thumb injury and reports have him having surgery coming up after the game. According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Fitzgerald could have surgery on Friday, as the team will have a long break heading into Week 11 after playing the Thursday game. Fitzgerald could potentially have surgery and return for the game against the Texans in Week 11.
