NFL Rookie of the Year Award 2015: Amari Cooper, Todd Gurley Favorites, Stefon Diggs, Marcus Mariota, TJ Yeldon Candidates for Offensive Player

The NFL offensive rookie of the year award for 2015 has some prime players in the mix, including Amari Cooper, Todd Gurley, Stefon Diggs, Marcus Mariota, TJ Yeldon, Jameis Winston and Melvin Gordon among other names. Cooper and Gurley appear to be the favorites heading into the second half of the season and it is likely one of those two players will win if they can stay healthy.

Here is a look at some of the top candidates:

Todd Gurley, Rams

If the award was voted on today, Gurley likely would win out over Cooper. Gurley missed time to start the season, but he has exploded for the Rams since starting off, going for 664 rushing yards in six games and scoring four touchdowns. Gurley is averaging 110 yards per game this season and he has already been over 100 yards four times. Gurley has looked the part and apart from his opening game with the Rams, he has not put up less than 89 yards in any game this season. Gurley has the look of a star and he likely is on track to win the rookie of the year award this season on offense.

Amari Cooper, Raiders

Cooper came into the season as one of the top candidates for the award and he has not disappointed, putting up 45 catches for 653 yards and four touchdowns. Cooper has gone over 100 yards three times and most in the NFL agree he is a star in the making. Gurley is the only thing standings between him and the award and he is on pace for a great rookie season with 90 catches for over 1300 yards.

Stefon Diggs, Vikings

Diggs should get some consideration for the award, but unless he somehow can overtake Cooper and his stats, he likely will be looking up at Cooper and Gurley. Diggs got off to a record start in his first four games and he now has 28 catches for 461 yards in five games played.

Marcus Mariota, Titans

Mariota has the chance to put up good numbers the rest of the way after missing time with a knee injury, but Gurley has been so good it will be hard to beat him. Mariota has been solid with 13 touchdowns and five picks while throwing for 1610 yards and completing 65 percent of his passes for the Titans.

TJ Yeldon, Jaguars

Yeldon will get compared to Gurley since they play the same position and while Yeldon has been solid, Gurley has been more impressive. Yeldon is averaging 4.1 yards per carry and has 470 yards in seven games this season.
