Sepp Blatter Hospitalized: FIFA President In Hospital With Body ‘Breakdown' After Suspension From Ethics Committee

FIFA President Sepp Blatter is in the hospital following a "body breakdown" and he will remain hospitalized until next week in Switzerland, according to his lawyer Richard Cullen.

The BBC reports that Blatter was admitted to the hospital after having a "small emotional breakdown" and Blatter is expected to make a full recovery. Blatter reportedly suffered a "nervous shock" and Cullen added that Blatter previously had a health check up last week. The 79-year-old has been dealing with a major scandal over the past few months and he also was recently provisionally suspended for 90 days by the FIFA ethics committee.

Blatter, Michel Platini and Jerome Valcke were suspended by the ethics committee stemming from a payment between Blatter and Platini from 2011, according to CNN. Blatter and Platini denied wrongdoing in statements released after the suspensions and all of it comes as an election is looming in 2016 to replace Blatter.

Blatter has been leading the FIFA organization for nearly two decades and there are investigations into Blatter and the group in the United States and Switzerland. Blatter is appealing the decision from the ethics committee and CNN reports that a date for the hearing has not been set yet.
