The Michigan St. Spartans travel to the Georgia Dome where they will face the Kansas Jayhawks for their Champions Classic meeting at 8 p.m. ET.
Both teams are coming off completely different results in their season openers.
The Spartans suffered a loss, meanwhile Kansas rallied past their opponents in an easy victory.
Michigan St. got off to a slow start and were beaten by a legitimate Uconn Huskies squad in a close 66-62 ball game. Keith Appling led the way with 17 points and four assists, Derrick Nix handled the boards picking up 11 and Branden Dawson collected five steals in the loss.
They were outscored 40-33 in the first hafl and that was the production of their demise as they tried to make a comeback in the 2nd half, but fell short four points.
Kansas didn't face a contender and they did what you're supposed to do with weaker opponents, crush them. They defeated the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks 74-55, putting this one away with a big first half.
Jeff Withey, the senior center, finished with a double-double scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, not to mention that he adding five blocks to this great performance.
Michigan St. will try to slow these guys down and regain some ground as they dropped from 17th to 21st in the in rankings. Kansas remains No. 7.
