Seattle Seahawks Rumors: Marshawn Lynch Out, Thomas Rawls Fantasy Starter, Tyler Lockett Waiver Option With Doug Baldwin Injury For Russell Wilson

The Seattle Seahawks will be without Marshawn Lynch for a stretch, as the running back is reportedly having surgery and that makes Thomas Rawls the starter moving forward. Lynch could be out for over a month and fantasy owners should look at Rawls, while Tyler Lockett is a solid waiver pickup with Doug Baldwin dealing with an injury for Russell Wilson.

Lynch sat out of the game on Sunday against the 49ers with an abdominal injury and now reports say the running back will need surgery. According to NFL.com, Lynch is undergoing sports hernia surgery after meeting with specialist Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia and he could be out for the rest of the regular season and potentially more. Ian Rapoport at NFL.com reports that Lynch is expected to miss a month, but there is a chance he could be out longer than that.

Lynch has been one of the most durable backs in football over the past few years, but this season he has missed multiple games with injuries and now his future with the team could be up in the air. Thomas Rawls has played very well in place of Lynch and fantasy football owners should look to him to start for the rest of the season if Lynch is out. Lynch is owed $9 million next season after getting a new deal in the offseason and that high number could lead to the Seahawks making a move.

NFL.com reports that Lynch has a chance to return in late December if he does not suffer any setbacks and that could allow him to come back if the team makes the playoffs. The Seahawks remain in the mix at 5-5, but they will need to keep winning and may need some help to get into the postseason again. Rawls has played very well with Lynch limited this season and in Week 11 he rushed for a career best 209 yards on 30 rushes and he also added 46 yards while scoring two total touchdowns in the win over the 49ers.

Rawls will now be the starter with Lynch out and fantasy owners should expect him to get a nice amount of carries moving forward. Rawls is averaging six yards per carry this season and he has 604 rushing yards in 10 games played. The Seahawks have also brought back Bryce Brown to the team and he could be an option with Fred Jackson behind Rawls as the team deals with Lynch being out.

Doug Baldwin is coming into the week dealing with an ankle injury and he could be limited for the game against the Steelers. Baldwin comes in after putting up six catches for 60 yards in the game and fantasy owners could look at Tyler Lockett as a replacement option for this weekend. Lockett scored two touchdowns last week and he has shown some explosive ability for Russell Wilson and that could get him some extra looks against Pittsburgh.
