The 2015 MLS Cup is set for December 6 and the Columbus Crew will host the Portland Timbers in the championship game at MAPFRE Stadium next Sunday. The Crew advanced as Eastern Conference champs over the New York Red Bulls, while the Timbers won the Western Conference over FC Dallas.
The Timbers are into the MLS Cup for the first time, while Columbus is back for the second time after making it back in 2008. The TV coverage for the championship will be on ESPN and MAPFRE Stadium will host its second MLS Cup after the San Jose Earthquakes defeated the LA Galaxy in 2001 to win the title.
Columbus advanced over the Red Bulls after winning 2-0 in the first match and advancing 2-1 on aggregate after New York won the second leg 1-0. The Timbers advanced with a 5-3 aggregate score after winning 3-1 in the first match and pulling a draw 2-2 with Dallas on Sunday. The Red Bulls were the 2015 Supporters' Shield winners, but they could not make it to the Cup after finishing as the top team on the league table.
