The NHL injury report this week has updates for Carey Price, Derek Stepan, Connor McDavid, Tyler Johnson, Logan Couture, Ondrej Palat and Kari Lehtonen. Price is going to be out for a long stretch for the Canadiens, while McDavid is working his way back from a shoulder injury.
Price is dealing with a lower body injury and the goaltender will be out for at least six weeks, according to a release from the Montreal Canadiens. According to the Montreal Gazette, Price had an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee, but it looks like it will not require surgery to repair the injury. Price missed nine games earlier in the season and he aggravated the injury after coming back and now could be out for over a month for Montreal.
Price has been one of the best goalies in the league this season and he comes in with a 10-2 record and a 2.06 GAA. McDavid has been out with a shoulder injury after suffering a broken clavicle for the Oilers and he reportedly is "ahead of schedule" in his recovery. McDavid could return in a month, but according to the Edmonton Sun, the team may not rush the rookie back to ensure that the injury is fully healed. McDavid said that he is not dealing with any pain in his shoulder any more, but that there is not a set date for his return.
The New York Rangers will be without Derek Stepan for at least a month after center suffered a rib injury. Stepan likely will be out between four to six weeks, according to Larry Brooks at the New York Post. Stepan has 12 points this season in 23 games for the Rangers and the team now will have to shuffle things up with him out for a stretch. The Tampa Bay Times reports that Tyler Johnson is doubtful to play on Wednesday and he comes in after missing time last week for the Lightning with an undisclosed injury.
Logan Couture was able to do some skating in practice after dealing with a fractured fibula and he looks to be on schedule in his recovery, according to CSN Bay Area. Couture originally was expected to miss around four to six weeks and he still does not have a set date to return. Palat was able to practice for Tampa Bay this week after dealing with a lower body injury and he was originally expected to miss about a month. Lehtonen was activated by Dallas after dealing with an upper body injury and now he is off injured reserve and could play this week.
