NBA News and Rumors: Kobe Bryant Statue to Resemble Man Medusa?

Dave McMenamin, columnist of ESPN Los Angeles, pointed out a question a reporter asked Kobe in relation to what his statue would look like in the future.

McMenamin said it got a bit awkward as he posted a link of the Q&A on his twitter account.

This is how the conversation went.

It is a typical Kobe response, but you can tell the 14-time All-Star was caught off guard by the question.

Q: Kareem has his skyhook. What would your statue's pose be?

Kobe: "Hmm. I don't know. I don't know.

Q: It wouldn't be the Kobe "Death Stare" though?

Kobe: Yeah. It could be. It would be the Man Medusa.

So, this is what Medusa looks like for those who aren't up on their Greek mythology.

Now, some similarities between the two, both are very intense as can see here, Medusa is not a happy person. Similar to how Kobe doesn't show any mercy to his opponents on the basketball court.

They both have special abilities.

Kobe, when it seems like all hope is gone, can rally his team from defeat. Age has done little to slow him down as he was barely edged by Kevin Durant in 2011 to win the scoring title.

Medusa, well she can kill you with her stare and turn you into stone. Her special abilities are even effective after death as Medusa's blood is poisoned and one drop can kill. Her death stare also works postmortem.

Hopefully, when the time comes, the Los Angeles Lakers can produce a statue more relevant to a traditional Kobe move. Or maybe just keep it simple and have him holding on one of his five championship trophies.
