The NBA injury report coming into the weekend has updates for Klay Thompson, Kyrie Irving, Iman Shumpert, JR Smith, Harrison Barnes, Tyson Chandler, Rudy Gobert, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Joffrey Lauvergne, Marcus Smart and Mike Dunleavy. Smart remains out for a stretch with a leg injury for the Celtics, while Irving and Shumpert are on their way back for the Cavaliers.
Thompson is coming into Friday with an ankle injury that he suffered against the Pacers and he may sit out for the game against the Celtics. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Thompson is a game-time decision for the Warriors, who remain undefeated through 23 games this season. Thompson said on Thursday that his ankle was about 70 percent and that "it's not feeling great, but it's not feeling bad" and that could be enough to get him on the court against Boston.
UPDATE: According to Yahoo Sports, Bradley Beal is dealing with a stress reaction in his leg and could be out for a couple weeks at least. The team said that Beal has a reaction in his lower right fibula and will be re-evaluated after two weeks of being out.
The Cavaliers have been without Kyrie Irving and Iman Shumpert for the entire season and now it looks like both players are close to returning. According to ESPN.com, Shumpert is expected to try and play against the Orlando Magic on Friday after being activated by the Cavaliers. Shumpert has been out after having wrist surgery and there is a good chance he will get some minutes on Friday. Irving is reportedly not going to play against the Magic, but he is getting closer to returning and could play for Cleveland over the next week or two. Chris Haynes reports that Irving could potentially return while the Cavs are on their road trip.
The Cavaliers are going to be down another player on Friday, as JR Smith will reportedly be out while dealing with an illness. Haynes reports that Smith will be out for Friday and that he is considered "day-to-day" and could return soon. Harrison Barnes has been out with an ankle injury for the Warriors and he has started jogging work, according to the SF Chronicle. Barnes is expected to be out for the rest of the current road trip for the Warriors.
Tyson Chandler has been dealing with a hamstring injury and he could return for the game on Friday against the Blazers. According to the Arizona Republic, Chandler said that he is "closer" to coming back and that he feels "better" than he did over the last couple days. Chandler has been out for the last seven games and should be back over the next week if he misses Friday. Mike Dunleavy has been dealing with a back injury for the Bulls and he does not have a timetable to return for the team at this time.
Rudy Gobert is dealing with a knee injury and according to Jody Genessy on Twitter, Gobert said he is "getting better" but is not yet at 100 percent. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Gobert has been able to start doing some workouts and there is a chance he could be out until at least January. Lauvergne is dealing with an illness and could be back on Friday, while Jefferson is going to be out for at least two months after having ankle surgery for the Nets.
