ODB and the New York Giants find their playoff hopes on life support and during this most important time the Gmen might lose one of their most important pieces. UPDATE: Beckham has been suspended one game by the NFL.
Beckham was absolutely otherworldly against the Panthers...and not in a good way. Beckham was dirty, vicious, and frequently made illegal contact with Carolina defensive back Josh Norman. Norman clearly threw Beckham off his game however Norman could have just cost the Giants their season.
Beckham is expected to be suspended for 1 game due to his actions in the Giants week 15 game. He made multiple helmet to helmet hits on Josh Norman and will likely be the first offensive player to be fined for a helmet to helmet hit. If Beckham is suspended for a game the Giants will likely have a tough road ahead of them as they will be facing the Minnesota Vikings in prime time at home.
The NFL may not stop at Beckham, they could also suspend the officiating crew that refused to eject Beckham after some fairly flagrant fouls of defenders. The main person who could end up dealing with the brunt of all of this is head coach Tom Coughlin and general manager Jerry Reese. Reese and Coughlin (Coughlin especially) has been on the hot seat all season long and missing the playoffs after having a clear path to winning the division will just add fuel to the flames. Coughlin was also criticized for not benching Beckham but clearly Coughlin was in a pretty tough position.
If the Giants end up getting eliminated from playoff contention the blame could fall on the shoulders of the team's biggest superstar.
