NFL Injury Updates Week 17: Peyton Manning, Marshawn Lynch, Julian Edelman, Drew Brees, Jonathan Stewart, Ted Ginn, Brian Hoyer, Alshon Jeffery

The NFL injury report heading into Week 17 has updates for players like Peyton Manning, Marshawn Lynch, Julian Edelman, Drew Brees, Jonathan Stewart, Ted Ginn, Brian Hoyer, Alshon Jeffery and Danny Amendola. Manning is set to be a backup this week for the Broncos, while Jeffery is out for the final game after being placed on injured reserve.

Manning is going to be active for the Broncos for the first time since being replaced by Brock Osweiler as the starter, but he will not be starting. According to ESPN.com, Manning will serve as the backup and will be behind Osweiler on Sunday. Manning could start again once the playoffs come, but for now he will be the backup for Osweiler. Manning said that he will do whatever he can to help the team win.

Marshawn Lynch is making progress from abdominal surgery, but he will not be ready to play in Week 17 for the Seahawks. According to head coach Pete Carroll, Lynch is still dealing with some discomfort after surgery and he is considered "day to day" for the team. Carroll said that Lynch should be ready for the playoffs, but he does not have a set date to return for Seattle yet. The Seahawks are locked into one of the wild card spots in the NFC and Lynch could return for the first round of the playoffs.

Julian Edelman remained limited in practice for the Patriots this week and he is unlikely to play in Week 17. Edelman is coming back from foot surgery and he is expected to be ready for the playoffs. The Patriots are in position to get a first round bye in the playoffs and that should help get Edelman back and healthy for the team. Drew Brees was limited in practice on Thursday for the Saints and he should be ready to play on Sunday after dealing with a foot issue. Brees was able to play last week.

Alshon Jeffery was placed on injured reserve for the Bears and now his season is done. Jonathan Stewart was limited in practice on Thursday and he may not end up playing in Week 17 for the Panthers. Ted Ginn was also limited for the Panthers in practice while dealing with a knee injury. Brian Hoyer is coming back from a concussion and he will be ready to play on Sunday for the Texans.
