Tottenham will look to banish the demons of the North London Derby defeat to Arsenal at the weekend by getting a positive result against a dangerous Lazio side in the Europa League.
Spurs lie in second place on six points from four matches, while Lazio top the table with eight points.
The last time the two teams met in the reverse fixture at White Hart Lane, Lazio were fined by UEFA after being found guilty of racist chants by fans towards Tottenham's Aaron Lennon, Jermain Defoe and Andros Townsend. Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas hopes his team will not have to experience the same situation in Italy.
"UEFA decided to punish Lazio and rightly so," Villas-Boas said. "It doesn't mean that incidents won't happen again.
"I think the players are in the right frame of mind to leave the authorities to deal with those situations in case it happens.
"That's something that hopefully will not happen tomorrow."
Spurs defender Kyle Walker wants a win over Lazio to get over the hurt of the 5-2 loss against Arsenal. "You have ups and downs," he told the club's official website. "For instance, I scored the winner against Arsenal last season.
"It's football and you have to deal with it. I'm sure we'll soon get through this difficult patch and be flying again.
"We need to bounce back from the result at the weekend and give something back to the fans. We'll go to Lazio, try to get a result and qualify.
"They are a good team and we saw that at White Hart Lane (a 0-0 draw).
"They are a typical Italian side, good in possession and clever, their movement is very good. We have to go there, play our game and carry out what we've been working on in preparation."
Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti expects a tough game against Spurs, who he feels are one of the favorites to win the tournament.
"Tottenham are one of the strongest sides in the Europa League," Marchetti told reporters.
"We will try to win tomorrow [Thursday] in order to secure qualification, but it will be a battle."
