NFL Injury Updates: Tom Brady, Adrian Peterson, DeAngelo Williams, Andy Dalton, Marshawn Lynch Returns, Julian Edelman Back For Playoffs?

The NFL injury report heading into the playoffs has updates for players like Tom Brady, DeAngelo Williams, Andy Dalton, Marshawn Lynch, Julian Edelman, Duane Brown and Danny Amendola. Brady is dealing with an ankle injury but is expected to be okay for the second round, while Lynch has re-joined the Seahawks.

Brady was injured on Sunday for the Patriots against the Miami Dolphins, suffering an ankle injury after a hit from Ndamukong Suh. According to Adam Schefter at ESPN, Brady an MRI on the ankle and the test revealed a high ankle sprain, but no fractures or structural damage. The Patriots lost on Sunday and are now the second overall seed in the AFC after having a chance at getting home field advantage through the playoffs.

Andy Dalton has been working his way back from a fractured thumb injury, but he may not be healthy enough to play against the Steelers. According to ESPN's Bob Holtzman, Dalton has had his cast removed, but the team is preparing as if AJ McCarron will start against the Steelers. Dalton's status for the game is "uncertain." Adrian Peterson missed practice with a back injury, but the running back is expected to play this weekend against the Seahawks. Peterson suffered the injury in Week 17, but the injury is not considered to be serious. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/01/06/adrian-peterson-misses-practice-with-back-injury/

The Broncos now are the number one seed, but Brady will have time to rest through the wild card round before the Patriots host a playoff game in the divisional round. Brady said that he was "pretty sore" after the game on Sunday, but he does not appear in danger of missing any time for the Patriots. The team has dealt with a number of injuries on offense this season, including to Julian Edelman, who has been able to return to practice and is "on track" to play in the second round, according to Schefter.

Marshawn Lynch has returned to the Seattle Seahawks after rehabbing from abdominal surgery and could be ready to play in the wild card game against the Vikings, according to the Seattle Times. Lynch has played in just seven games this season and has been out since Week 10 with the injury. The Seahawks have gone 6-1 down the stretch and Russell Wilson has been putting up strong numbers and now Lynch looks like he will be ready to return.

DeAngelo Williams suffered an ankle injury against the Browns on Sunday and could be ready to play for the team against the Bengals in the playoffs. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Williams has an "outside chance" to play, but a "small one" after suffering the injury. If Williams is out for the wild card round, Fitzgerald Toussaint, Jordan Todman and Will Johnson could get carries. Williams could potentially return the next week if the Steelers win over the Bengals.
