NFL Playoffs: Did Vontaze Burfict Try to Injure Ben Roethlisberger During Bengals-Steelers Game?

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was injured in the Steelers Wild Card game with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Most of us know this, but very few saw the actual play he was hurt in its entirety. Replays clearly show that troubled linebacker Vontaze Burfict actually drove his knee into Roethlisberger's shoulder while he was down. This was well after the play was dead and could have been after the injury as well. The one thing that this game did underline is the bad intentions dirty players bring into the game.

Burfict has been fined in the past before and we have all seen his dirty hits. Whether it is smacking an opposing player in the testicles during a play, twisting opposing player's ankles, or just aiming low (not to be safe but to injure) Burfict shows absolutely no class when it comes to his fellow athletes. Let's not forget this is the same guy who took out Le'Veon Bell with an egregious low hit.

When Roethlisberger had a knee injury in the regular season Burfict hit him low, there is so much evidence of how dirty this player is it is a shock he has not been suspended for at least half of the season. Burfict goes out every week with the intent to harm his fellow NFL players because he is a player who lets his emotions get the better of him.

There is absolutely no discipline to speak of with Burfict, he is absolutely unpredictable. Everyone was shocked to see Burfict clip Antonio Browns helmet with his helmet/shoulder pad because the rules are very clear on hitting a defenseless receiver. Whether or not Brown was actually hurt was not the point (if he was pretending Adam Jones, it still doesn't make the hit right and it still would have been flagged).

The lack of restraint Burfict shows is exactly why teams were afraid to take him, he is a loose cannon on the field. Burfict should be suspended for the 2016 season based off of his actions in the Steelers/Bengals wild card game alone.
