The Buccaneers have announced that Dirk Koetter will be the new head coach for the team as we enter the 2016 season but that is not the only coaching change that is being made.

The Bucs also have hired Mike Smith as their new defensive coordinator. Smith was the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons for several seasons and made it to the playoffs several times. Smith's 1-4 record in the postseason is one of the many reasons he is available right now however he transformed a lifeless Falcons team into a powerhouse.

Smith has only been a defensive coordinator once in the NFL and that was his stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars that went from 2003-2007. Prior to that he was predominantly a defensive line coach, and at one point was the defensive coordinator for Tennessee Tech. Smith will have his hands full as he will attempt to fix this Buccaneers secondary.

The Buccaneers will also have another piece of business to attend to regarding Vincent Jackson. Jackson is project to cost the Buc's a fortune in 2016 and the Bucs could save $9 million plus dollars in releasing the aging wide receiver. Jackson should find himself a cap casualty by the beginning of free agency.
