Seattle Seahawks Rumors: Is Kam Chancellor On His Way Out of the Legion of Boom?

The Seattle Seahawks may finally end all of the contract drama they have seen with strong safety Kam Chancellor. Chancellor is scheduled to count $6,100,000 against the cap and the Seahawks could think about releasing the star safety.

Chancellor had a typical year in which he amassed 74 combined tackles, 2 interceptions, and a forced fumble. Chancellor will not be the only Seahawk facing a possible cap cut, Jimmy Graham will count a jarring $9,000,000 against the salary cap. With Graham the Seahawks are a little more likely to retain his services thanks in part to trading Max Unger for him however Graham was largely ineffective in an offense that really clicked in the passing game when he was not involved.

It would be hard for the Seahawks to justify keeping around an extra tight end that proved less effective than the cap friendly ones currently on their roster. All of these cap issues revolve somewhat around Marshawn Lynch, who will count $6,000,000 against the cap in 2016 but $10,000,000 against the cap in 2017.

Lynch has been said to have been considering retirement, but if he does leave he will likely owe the Seahawks at least a million dollars.

The Seahawks will have to cross some serious bridges before they actually have a picture of what their roster will look like in 2016.
