Philadelphia Eagles News and Rumors: Will Byron Maxwell Be A Cap Casualty This Offseason?

The Philadelphia Eagles are heading into a rebuilding phase of their franchise as they have brought in a brand new head coach, but what will they decide in terms of roster moves?

The Eagles only have $14-$18 million in cap space but they will have a ton of unrestricted free agents, which means that the roster will likely undergo some type overhaul.  Of those free agents, Sam Bradford, Walter Thurmond, Nolan Carroll, and Cedric Thornton will be some major role players looking to hit the open market.

The more interesting cap figures come from players who were signed during Chip Kelly's final season with the Eagles, players like Byron Maxwell who have a cap hit of $9,700,000, Jason Peters with a $9,237,500 cap hit, and DeMarco Murray with a $8,000,000 cap hit.

The Eagles are going to need to fill a ton of needs this offseason so it is very viable that the Eagles worst corner Maxwell will either need to take a pay cut or be released. There will be players on the open market more effective than Maxwell and the Eagles will likely look to retool the roster to match the new coach's scheme. Peters could also be released, at 34 Peters will likely see a sharp decline in the years to come. Finally Murray a player who Kelly snaked from the Dallas Cowboys could be released because, well, the Eagles do not need him.

He is an expensive running back that has not even proven to be the best on the roster. There will be many interesting avenues the Eagles can explore in the 2016 offseason.
