The NBA trade deadline is less than a month away and players like Eric Gordon, David Lee, Ryan Anderson, Chris Andersen, Lance Stephenson, JJ Hickson, Kevin Martin, Nick Young, Roy Hibbert, Brandon Jennings and Jamal Crawford could be potential targets for contending teams.
The New Orleans Pelicans have been mentioned in trade talk this season with Ryan Anderson, but the team also could consider moving Eric Gordon. Gordon is currently out for at least a month with a fractured finger, but according to John Reid of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the team may still look for trade deals with the guard.
The team reportedly was looking to deal Gordon before the injury and there "is still a chance" the team tries to trade Gordon before the deadline. Basketball Insiders reports that the Celtics are "actively" looking to deal David Lee. The team may need a third team to get involved in the deal due to Lee's contract, according to the report.
The Knicks were mentioned as a potential option for Brandon Jennings earlier in the season and that could be a deal the team looks at closer to the deadline. The Pistons likely want to move Jennings with Reggie Jackson firmly planted as the starter there. According to the Boston Globe, the Clippers may consider moving Lance Stephenson, as he has a team option for next season at over $9 million and has not been as good as expected in the Clipper rotation.
Markieff Morris has been mentioned in trade rumors since the summer and the Suns may still push a deal for him at the deadline. Morris has made it back into the rotation after being benched earlier in the season and he has some trade value, as he is signed to an affordable contract over the next three years. Morris was reportedly upset after his brother was traded over the summer and teams like the Cavaliers, Rockets and Raptors have been mentioned as potential landing spots.
The Cavaliers have been mentioned in rumors about postnatal trading Kevin Love, but according to GM David Griffin, the team is not considering a deal. Griffin said to ESPN that the team has "never once put together an offer involving Kevin nor have we taken a call on an offer for Kevin" and that the team is better off with Love on the team. The turmoil in Cleveland following the firing of David Blatt could see some trade moves, but right now it doesn't look like Love will be one of them.
JJ Hickson is reportedly being shopped by the Nuggets, as he is set to be a free agent this summer, while Chris Andersen has been mentioned in trade rumors since the summer. According to Real GM, the Pelicans offered the Kings a deal with Gordon for Rudy Gay, but Sacramento rejected the offer. Gay has reportedly been mentioned in trade deals with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers, according to the Sacramento Bee.
