The NBA injury report has updates for players like Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose, Bradley Beal, Dwight Howard, Brandon Knight, Dwyane Wade, Goran Dragic, Derrick Favors and Hassan Whiteside heading into the Wednesday schedule.
Blake Griffin had previously been dealing with a quad injury and was getting close to returning, but now he will be out for at least a month after fracturing his hand. According to ESPN.com, Griffin was in an altercation with a team staff member and fractured his hand after punching the staffer. The incident happened in Toronto and now ESPN reports that Griffin could be out between four to six weeks with the injury.
Dwight Howard sat out for the Rockets on Monday, missing his third straight game with an ankle injury. Howard missed the matchup with the Pelicans and he likely will be a game time decision for the Spurs on Wednesday. Howard has been averaging 14 points and 12 rebounds in 37 games this season. Clint Capela could see extra time if Howard has to miss another game.
The Arizona Republic reports that Brandon Knight will not play in the next four games as the Suns go on an east coast road trip. Knight is dealing with a groin injury and will sit out for the team. There is a chance that Knight could miss more than four games with the injury. Bradley Beal suffered a concussion and a broken nose for the Wizards against the Nuggets and he will miss the next game against the Raptors. Beal will miss at least this game and will have to get out of the concussion protocol before he returns.
The Miami Heat have been dealing with numerous injuries over the past week, but Dwyane Wade was able to return on Monday after dealing with a sore shoulder. Wade was able to play 34 minutes in the game and had 28 points after coming back to the starting lineup. Hassan Whiteside is dealing with a hip strain and is out against the Nets on Tuesday. Whiteside has been dealing with knee issues this season and he injured his hip last week for Miami.
Goran Dragic has been out with a calf injury and he is listed as questionable for Miami against the Nets on Tuesday. Dragic was upgraded from doubtful for the game and there still is a chance he sits out. Derrick Rose is dealing with a hamstring injury and a back issue and he is questionable for the game on Thursday against the Lakers. Rose was limited to just non-contact work in practice on Tuesday. Derrick Favors returned for the Jazz on Monday, playing for the first time in 16 games after dealing with a back injury.
