The Los Angeles Rams oldest tenured player, Chris Long, will have a monstrous cap hit this season which could spell the end of his time in a Rams jersey.

Long admitted earlier he would be willing to take a pay cut to stay with the Rams however he may see some bigger offers from teams that are in dire need of pass rushers and run stoppers. Long is set to count $14,250,000 against the cap which would be a reason to release the 30 year old; he also has had several injury plagued seasons that have seen him struggle to remain productive.

Long would lose his starting job earlier this season to William Hayes who proved to be a better playmaker in the long run. If the Rams released Long they would free up $11.75 million however he is signed through 2017. William Hayes the man who replaced Long is a free agent but has a significantly lower cap hit.

The Rams need to worry about resigning Nick Fairley, Trumaine Johnson, Janoris Jenkins, and Greg Zuerlein so they should be looking to maximize their cap space. The Rams should have a healthy $35 million plus in cap space however if they hope to compete in 2016 they will need to sign a ton of playmakers in hopes to fill some of the holes on this roster.
