Green Bay Packers Rumors: Will Julius Peppers Remain On the Team Into 2016 Season?

With Julius Peppers turning 36 is it possible the Green Bay Packers endure another ridiculous cap hit?

Peppers will cost the Packers $10.5 million against the cap and this is a time the Packers should be revamping both their offense and defense. The Packers cannot afford to get complacent on aging players and contracts as their Super Bowl window appears to be closing.

The Green Bay Packers should have around $22 million in cap space so resigning Peppers would not be a problem but his release could bring even more star power to this defense and give enough added depth and firepower to actually make them legitimate title contenders again.

Peppers finish the 2015 season with 37 combined tackles, 10.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles which is pretty good for a 36 year old. Peppers can clearly still play at a high level but for how long? 1 or 2 seasons before he walks away to grab a gold jacket? The Packers are going to need to think about the future especially after the way this offense performed all season long.

Davante Adams who was supposed to be the next Randall Cobb was barely productive and Eddie Lacy could not seem to get anything going with the ground game. The Packers need to fortify this franchise with some excellent depth players on both sides of the ball, releasing some of their older players would just help them down the road.
