The 2016 NFL draft strong prospects that could go in the top five, including Joey Bosa, Jared Goff, Laquon Treadwell and Carson Wentz and teams like the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys could target those players. The Titans have the number one overall pick and they could consider trading down depending on how they evaluate the top prospects.
The Titans have the number one pick and while the team has said they are open to listening to offers for the selection, right now the team is not considering moving out of the top spot. The Titans don't have a need at the quarterback position after taking Marcus Mariota last year and that could make players like Joey Bosa, Laremy Tunsil and DeForest Buckner potential targets at the top pick.
The Titans have needs all over the roster and they likely will go for the "best available player" at the number one spot over looking at a certain need. Mel Kiper at ESPN has the Titans taking Joey Bosa with the number one overall pick, writing that the "best defensive lineman in any draft really transcends need." The team needs to upgrade the pass rush and Bosa is considered to be the top defensive player in the draft. Tunsil also could be an option, as Mariota played behind a porous offensive line last season.
The Cleveland Browns pick at number two and many around the NFL have speculated that the team could go after a quarterback with the pick. Jared Goff is considered by many to be the top prospect at the position and Kiper has the Browns going after the California QB. Goff had a big season last year with 43 touchdown passes and over 4700 yards passing and that could lead to him being the first QB off the board. Kiper writes that Goff has an NFL arm and can make all the throws at the next level.
According to NFL.com, Hue Jackson has said that the Browns will be looking for a quarterback and the draft could end up being where the team finds their next franchise QB. The San Diego Chargers pick third and they could target the "best player available" like the Titans, as they have needs all over the roster. Kiper has the team going after Tunsil, as the Chargers dealt with numerous injuries on the offensive line last season.
The Cowboys pick at number four and while many think the team will go after a quarterback, Jerry Jones said that is not necessarily the case for Dallas. Carson Wentz, Paxton Lynch and Goff could be targets, while players like Treadwell and Buckner also could be fits. Kiper has Buckner as the pick in his first mock draft, while NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah has Wentz going with the pick.
