Robert Griffin III Target For Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Eagles If Cut?

The Washington Redskins are expected to cut Robert Griffin III this offseason and if that happens, teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers could be potential landing spots.

Griffin appears to be done in Washington after Kirk Cousins led the team to the playoffs, as reports have the Redskins looking to lock up Cousins long term. Ian Rapoport reported at NFL.com that Griffin is likely getting released so the Redskins do not have to pay his $16 million option for next season, but it's unclear when that could happen. According to the Washington Post, general manager Scot McCloughan said that the team may wait until March to make a final decision on Griffin, as the team has until March 9 to make a move on his contract.

Griffin did not play this season behind Cousins and reports have the quarterback hoping to end up in Dallas or with another team. Charles Robinson at Yahoo Sports reports that Griffin would "love" to end up in Dallas, as his family loves the Cowboys and he is a Texas native. Throughout the season Griffin's future with the team has been up in the air despite the Redskins picking up the fifth year option on the quarterback. NFL.com reported earlier in the season that if Griffin was released, the Eagles, Cowboys and Texans would be interested in signing him.

The Cowboys likely will look for a solid backup quarterback to develop behind Tony Romo heading into next season and the team could consider Griffin an option. Reports also have the team considering Johnny Manziel as well as quarterback prospects in the NFL draft. The Houston Texans are also on the lookout for a potential franchise player and Griffin could be a fit for Bill O'Brien. The team used four starters last season and is looking for more consistency at the position.

The Cleveland Browns appear to be done with Johnny Manziel and that could open up Hue Jackson to look at Griffin as an option. The Browns likely will take a quarterback in the draft this year, but the team also could consider adding someone like Griffin to the mix. Doug Pederson is taking over in Philadelphia and with Sam Bradford hitting free agency, there is chance the team could go after Griffin. Pederson likes mobile quarterbacks and he did a great job with Alex Smith in Kansas City last season.

Griffin is likely done in Washington and even if the Redskins wait until March to release  him, there should be a number of teams interested in signing the quarterback if hits the market.
