The New York Jets find themselves in an awkward position as they must resign a ton of free agents and most of them helped this team be so competitive in 2015.
The Jets need to resign starting quarterback With Wilkerson and Fitzpatrick likely to have huge contracts coming off great performances in 2015 this could leave one member of the team out in the cold, Chris Ivory. Ivory led the Jets in rushing with 1,070 yards and 7 touchdowns but was a bit injury prone as the season wore on.
Ivory would like to stay in New York however he will be happy to continue his NFL career wherever he ends up. The Jets will also have to figure out what to do with defensive players, Bilal Powell, Demario Davis, Antonio Allen, and Calvin Pace all of whom are free agents. The Jets will also see their backup running backs Stevan Ridley and Bilal Powell hit free agency as well which could force them to make a move with Ivory.
The Jets in all likelihood could look to draft a running back in the 2016 NFL Draft to replace their departing backs. The Jets will be picking late enough in the first round to help justify the selection of one of the best running backs in the draft.
