EPL Transfer News: Jermain Defoe Not Interested in Leaving Spurs, Wants to End Career at Tottenham

Tottenham's Jermain Defoe has been one of the form strikers in the English Premier League this season, with manager Andre Villas-Boas even comparing his player to Radamel Falcao.

Such form will inevitably lead to suggestions of interest elsewhere, with Harry Redknapp and Queens Park Rangers linked with a move for the 30-year-old in January.

Vilas-Boas said there is no way he will let his in-form striker leave White Hart Lane, and Defoe has come out and expressed his happiness at Tottenham, saying he would like to end his career with the North London club.

"That's not going to happen, I'm not leaving Tottenham, I love the club and to score goals at a big club like this is fantastic," Defoe told Sky Sports News.

"If the opportunity comes to leave the club it won't be happening. I don't want to leave, I'm a Spurs player -- and I'm happy.

"I'd like to finish my career at Tottenham. I want to achieve something special here -- it's a great time to be at the club."

Defoe also came out in support of new manager Villas-Boas, with the striker confident the Portuguese can turn the club around from pretenders to contenders.

"It's difficult for any manager -- when you come in you've got different ideas," Defoe said. "It wasn't the best at Chelsea but that happens.

"It's part of life and being a manager, but he's a fantastic manager and been fantastic for me.

"There's always a different approach each game and he's such a nice guy. All the lads want to fight and win for him. I'm just enjoying the journey and I'm sure he is as well."

Tottenham enjoyed a crucial 2-1 win over Liverpool Wednesday, and Defoe is now keen for his side to build on the win and go on a good run. "I thought the performance against Liverpool was great," he added. "It was a massive win.

"Character is key and the lads who've come in have been fantastic. With the quality we've got it's important to go on a run and we're capable of doing that."
