Miami Dolphins Rumors: What Will Dolphins Do With Olivier Vernon In Free Agency?

The Miami Dolphins are in a bit of a bind with star pass rusher Olivier Vernon, mostly due to the fact that Vernon will be sought after by a large number of teams which should drive up his price.

The Dolphins are currently trying to circumvent that by offering Vernon an extension in the offseason however after the abysmal showing of this team it is likely that Vernon will want to seek out a winning franchise, who will pay him a pretty penny as well. Vernon in 2015 was unstoppable; he played and started in every game this season.

Vernon recorded 61 combined tackles, and 7.5 sacks. That type of pressure will be worth a lot of money, in his career so far Vernon has racked up 29 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and 196 combined tackles.  Vernon is only 25 years old and still has plenty of years while he is in his NFL prime so he will be one of the more sought after free agents on the market. Vernon should see interest from the Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins, Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the New York Giants.

Vernon is still young so he will most likely choose money over championships this time around. With the Cowboys likely to release Greg Hardy it will be interesting to see if they take a look at Vernon. Currently 3 Super Bowl contenders and the entire NFC East is interested in Vernon so it should cost the Dolphins an arm and a leg to get him resigned. It should also be noted Vernon has never missed an NFL game.
