Marvin Jones Free Agency Rumors: Cincinnati Bengals WR Top Target With Calvin Johnson Retirement, Alshon Jeffery Likely Re-Signing?

With the sudden retirement looming of Calvin Johnson, and the likely re-signing of Alshon Jeffery, Marvin Jones may just be the best wide receiver available this offseason.

Jones will be highly sought after as he embodies an NFL number two wide receiver. Jones is also only 25, which means he will remain in his prime for quite some time. He also has time to develop and grow as a receiver which is something a team like the Rams or Patriots would appreciate. Jones has only played in an alarming 43 out of 64 career NFL games so his durability is questionable at best. In 2015 Jones played in all 16 games however started for only 13 of them.

He recorded 65 receptions, 816 yards, and 4 touchdowns. In Jones's career he has logged 134 receptions, 1,729 yards, and 15 touchdowns. The Bengals have $38 million in cap space however resigning Mohammed Sanu, Leon Hall, Reggie Nelson, or Adam Jones might be a bigger priority. There are a ton of teams already interested in Jones and he is likely to get some pretty enticing offers.

The New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens, San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers, Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Rams, Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins, Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks, and Carolina Panthers could all have a use for the talented wide receiver. Minnesota, Washington, Detroit, Baltimore, and San Francisco are all the franchises with the greatest need for Jones services, so they will likely offer him the biggest contracts. Jones should become a primary part of an offense in 2016.
