The New York Knicks defeated the Phoenix Suns 116-99 and received great performances as they once again won it as a team.
Carmelo Anthony, as always, led the team in scoring dropping 34 points on the Suns. His defensive improvements continued as he also had two blocks
Steve Novak continued to improve from three-point range as he went 4/10 from beyond the arc. He played some defense and finished with two steals.
Rookie Chris Copeland came off the bench following the ejection of Rasheed Wallace and despite only scoring eight points, he filled the stat sheet he grabbed three rebounds, dished two dimes, picked up a steal and a block.
The New York Knicks jumped out to as many as two points, but the lead was shrunk to 12 by the Suns late in the third quarter.
However, by the time the fourth quarter kicked off, Anthony had popped a three before the end of the third and the Knicks quickly took their lead back to 17.
In the fourth, the Suns still didn't quit, went on a quick 5-0 run as the Knicks couldn't make a bucket early on.
Sebastian Telfair had seven points as the lead was shrunk to nine with 8:19 left to play in the game. Jared Dudley then popped a three and shrunk the lead to six with over six minutes remaining in the game.
After a Tyson Chandler rebound and jam, Raymond Felton sunk a layup that brought the lead back up to double-digits, forcing the Suns to regroup and take a timeout.
Felton finished with 23 points.
The Suns would not go away and with 26.1 left J.R. Smith made it a six point game after a Shannon Brown layup made it a four-point game.
The Suns have the tough duty of facing the Memphis Grizzlies in their next game on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Knicks will face the surprising Charlotte Bobcats.
