New York Giants: Noah Spence The Replacement For JPP?

The Giants currently are still trying to figure out their roster defensively. They currently have 31 players about to hit free agency, and 14 of them are defensive players. They will see the biggest exodus from their defensive ends, with four of them set to hit free agency: Jason Pierre-Paul, Robert Ayers, Cullen Jenkins, and George Selvie.

They will also see three cornerbacks leave, but the one with the biggest impact will likely be former Nebraska star Prince Amukamara. That said, with all four defensive ends hitting the market, the Giants will not have a starting defensive end. The Giants are currently still trying to rebuild their offensive line, however they need an edge rusher more than any other position on the roster.

New York may choose to resign JPP if there is an especially cold market for the star pass rusher, especially for a team friendly rate. If JPP is picked up, then it must look towards the draft, where it will most likely spend its first round pick on an edge rusher.

The Giants have the 10th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, which means they will get a decent shot at bringing in game-changing talent on defense. They'll most likely look for a long, rangy defensive lineman who will have no trouble powering through blockers, and likely have a shot at Shaq Lawson, Noah Spence or Jonathan Bullard. Spence is expected to be one of the top three pass rushers in this draft, and the Giants will have to take a shot on him if he's available.
