Dallas Cowboys: Derrick Henry Strong Fit In 2016 NFL Draft?

Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry may be the most debated prospect in the upcoming 2016 NFL Draft, as some think he is a first round talent, while others think he should slip into the second round. Henry led the Crimson Tide to a National Championship, and joined a group of only 15 players since 1956 to have had more than 400 touches in a single season in college, according to Eric Edholm of Yahoo Sports.

One team that could make sense for the cowbell running back is the Dallas Cowboys, according to a college scouting director. Some scouts are reportedly concerned with the amount of touches Henry took at Alabama, but it must be remembered that the 6-foot-3, 242-pound back would get stronger with each carry and would wear down opposing defenses in the second half.

The Cowboys are clearly in the market for a running back, and there is no telling what Henry could do behind Dallas' talented offensive line. The Alabama running back seems to play his best football under the spotlight, and rushed for 158 yards and scored three touchdowns in the National Championship game.

Henry could be a three down back in the league, but still needs work on catching the ball out of the backfield. Cowboys running back Darren McFadden had his best season since 2010 after joining the Cowboys, and completed his second 1,000 plus yard season behind their offensive line.

The talented Crimson Tide running back has already stated that he would prefer to land with the Cowboys in the draft, but is also looking to prove himself as a first round prospect at the NFL combine. Dallas currently sits with the fourth pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, but if Henry is still on the board in the second round don't be surprised if Dallas selects him with the 34th pick.

Bleacher Report's Matt Miller has projected Henry to land in Dallas in his seven-round mock draft, and could make a strong fit in the Cowboys backfield. It's unknown where Henry will land in the draft, but don't be surprised if he has a star on the side of his helmet next season.
