Dallas Cowboys Vice President Believes Team Needs Another Running Back

The Dallas Cowboys are still being very secretive about who they may look to add to this offense, however Cowboys Vice President Stephen Jones recently stated that they "do feel like we need another back to go with McFadden,"  according to The Score.

With the 2016 NFL Combine about to begin, the Cowboys are likely looking at a running back in the second or third round, or in free agency if the price is right. Dallas is currently in the worst position it has been in terms of running back depth. Lance Dunbar and Robert Turbin are likely to be gone in free agency - if Dunbar plays again at all in the upcoming 2016 season. He may not be medically ready to return after a gruesome knee injury.

The other two backs on their roster, Rod Smith and Ben Malena, are nowhere close to landing the starting job and are emergency depth players at best. This means the Cowboys will likely need to add two starting caliber running backs in the 2016 offseason in order to solidify this ground game, according to DallasCowboys.com.

McFadden will enter the season as the starter, but it is unclear if he will remain a starter if the Cowboys bring in some new backs. Now they will not overpay for Doug Martin or a top free agent running back, however they would consider adding a player such as Chris Ivory, who is a Texas native and has a ton of experience. Ivory is also set to be a free agent, according to NFL.com.

This move would likely be coupled with the acquisition of a young running back in the draft. With all of the turmoil on the defensive side of the ball it is unlikely Dallas would spend a second round pick on a running back, however it could look Arkansas running back Alex Collins or Kenneth Dixon in the third. No matter what the Cowboys believe, they must get this running game going if they want to get back to the playoffs.
