The Colorado Avalanche have acquired Mikkel Boedker from the Arizona Coyotes in a deal ahead of the NHL trade deadline, according to Pierre LeBrun at ESPN.

The Avalanche will get Boedker in exchange for forward Conner Bleakley, defenseman Kyle Wood and veteran forward Alex Tanguay. Bleakley is a former first-round pick who the Coyotes did not sign. The deal will not have any salary held over by either team, according to LeBrun. Boedker was considered to be one of the top forwards available at the trade deadline after he was not able to reach a new contract agreement with the Coyotes.

Boedker is heading towards unrestricted free agency, which made him a prime target at the deadline of he did not sign a new deal. Boedker has a cap hit of $3.75 million this season. Boedker gives the Avalanche some front-line depth for the back stretch of the season, as the team is fighting for playoff position in the Western Conference. Boedker was the third-leading scorer for the Coyotes, recording 39 points in 62 games, including 13 goals and 26 assists.
