Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley is doubtful for the big English Premier League Manchester Derby against City on Sunday, after picking up a calf injury in the Champions League loss to CFR Cluj.
Cleverley was replaced by Paul Scholes just before halftime, and Sir Alex Ferguson admitted the 23-year-old might be set for a spell on the sidelines.
"We'll assess Tom in the morning," Ferguson told reporters at his post-match press conference.
"He felt his calf a little but it's not good news. We'll see what he's like in the morning."
However, there was some good news for United on the injury front, with Shinji Kagawa returning to training. The Japanese playmaker has been missing since Oct. 23, after suffering a knee injury in the Champions League game against Braga.
"Shinji is now back and is doing some running," Ferguson said. "I don't know if he'll make Sunday's game (against City). It might be a bit early for him.
"At least he's back training and he'll hopefully join in the football part next Monday."
Meanwhile, defender Phil Jones rued his side's loss to Cluj on Wednesday after a wonder goal from Luis Alberto consigned United to a 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford.
"We were probably missing a little bit of urgency in the first half, but I think we had that in the second half," Jones, who himself has only recently returned from injury, told the club's official website.
"Cluj were difficult to break down but we created enough chances, enough to win two games, and we put enough balls into the box. We just couldn't stick our chances away while it was unfortunate they scored a wonder goal. These things happen."
Jones said he is looking forward to the big Manchester Derby on Sunday, with just three points currently separating the two rivals at the top of the table.
"We all are (up for it)," he said. "We know it's a big game for both clubs and hopefully we can come out on top. We're aiming to extend our lead, let's hope we can do that."
