Los Angeles Lakers News 2012: Phil Jackson Doesn't Believe Current Team Is Championship Material, Wouldn't Return If They Asked (Video)

On Wednesday night, the folks of TMZ caught up with former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Phil Jackson heading to dinner, and when asked if he would return to the Lakers Jackson gave a different response than previously stated.

The 11-time NBA champion immediately shot down the idea of returning to the Lakers, even if they begged him, and made a comment that he doesn't believe the team is championship material.

With a loss last night against the New York Knicks the Lakers are now starring at a 9-14 record and are nowhere near the team that was intended in terms of being a legitimate NBA title contender.

The 116-107 loss was the team's fourth straight loss.

Carmelo Anthony scorched the Lakers before his left anklle injury in the third quarter, scoring 22 of his 30 points in a period.

With the absence of Steve Nash, the teams backcourt and transition defense continues to be the weakness for the Lakers for many different ways with their lack of speed and inability to run Mike D'Antoni's offense.

Until Nash returns, the Lakers are considering free-agent options at point guards to run the offense until Nash returns.

The Lakers continue to also be without forward Pau Gasol with a tendinitis injury.
