While the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United have found out their opponents for the last-16 of the Champions League, Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle will be desperate to avoid tricky ties in the last-32 draw of the Europa League.
The draw for the second tier competition of Europe will be held immediately after the last-16 draw of the Champions League and the major English teams face a prospect of facing some tough opposition.
Spurs defender Kyle Walker is determined to see his side lift a trophy this season and the Europa League presents a good opportunity.
"It's massive for me," Walker said. "I want to win stuff at Tottenham and this tournament is a great opportunity to get a medal.
"We have been good throughout the group stages. Things haven't always gone our way but we've hung in there and got the results we needed."
Clubs generally find the Europa League as a bit of a distraction when they are looking to qualify for the Champions league or even challenging for the title in their domestic league. But Walker believes the Europa League is equally important, and Spurs, especially, are capable of staying competitive in all competitions.
"With the squad we have, we can do both," he added. "We are quite capable of it.
"We need to go out and attack every game. Hopefully that will put us in a good position at the end of the season.
"We believe that this competition can be approached in a different way."
Teams that finished top of their group in the previous stage will be seeded along with the the top four Champions League teams that dropped down to the Europa League after finishing third in their respective groups.
Teams from the same country and the same group cannot be drawn with each other, meaning a clash with Chelsea and Andre Villas-Boas' current team Spurs cannot happen until the next stage.
