Buzzing from their crucial 1-0 victory over Inter Milan last weekend, Lazio will be desperate to continue the momentum against their bogey team Sampdoria.
Lazio are in third currently on 33 points with Sampdoria, who have beaten their opponents in three previous occasions, in 14th on 17 points, just two points above the relegation zone.
Lazio manager Vladimir Petkovic is wary of new Sampdoria boss Delio Rossi's tactics with the manager having spent four years with Lazio previously.
"He's lived and worked here and I'm sure he's done detailed analysis of our matches," Petkovic told La Republica. "He will know us very well indeed.
"We can't allow ourselves to be surprised. They will play a highly aggressive brand of football but a defensively-orientated one. He's a coach who knows good football and his teams are always well-balanced and pro-active.
"It's difficult to change a lot inside seven days but I'm sure he will give a quality Sampdoria side a big helping hand.
"Every player will want to prove themselves to the new boss. We have to give 120 percent tomorrow (Saturday) and the concentration levels must increase."
Rossi last left Fiorentina in rather forgettable fashion, after the manager attempted to punch Adem Ljacic, following the midfielder's sarcastic applause to being substituted. Rossi promised there would not be a repeat of those circumstances in his time with Sampdoria.
"It was a gesture that seemed more serious than it probably was," Rossi said. "I apologised for it, but my time there was over from that moment. I still have good memories of Florence.
"I hold this club in very high esteem and I hope to rise to the occasion."
Lazio might have to do without Ederson and Tomasso Rocchi, with the duo doubtful due to injury, while Antonio Cantreva is suspended.
Sampdoria will take a late call on Maxi Lopez, Mauro Icardi and Enzo Maresca, with Fernando Tissone set to serve a one-match suspension.
