Liverpool Transfer News: PSG Striker Hoarau Linked with Anfield Move as Liverpool Confirm Sterling Contract

With Raheem Sterling finally signing on the dotted line after agreeing on a new long-term deal, Brendan Rodgers can concentrate on bringing in some much-needed reinforcements in January, with Paris Saint Germain forward Guillaume Hoarau the latest to interest the Anfield club.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with moves for Chelsea forward Daniel Sturridge and Thomas Ince of Blackpool, but both moves have reportedly broken down for various reasons - although it must be said both signings are still likely to happen.

Rodgers has made strengthening his frontline his number one priority for January, and the Reds were reportedly monitoring Hoarau's PSG teammate Kevin Gameiro, in case a move for Sturridge fell through.

However, now, according to Le 10 Sport, the Reds are looking at the possibility of bringing in the 28-year-old Hoarau, who is far from first choice at the French club.

The striker will also not be too expensive, with his contract set to expire in the summer.

The Reds are also reportedly looking at Bafetimbi Gomis of Lyon and Loic Remy of Marseille, but Hoarau will be the lesser expensive option.

Meanwhile, Sterling expressed his happiness and relief at signing a new five-year contract with the club. "It's every 18-year-old's dream," he told the club's official website. "I'm just really grateful to be at such a big club like this.

"There's a lot more to be done. I haven't begun yet, as the manager has said. Hopefully I can kick on after the New Year and try to do my best for the team and the football club.

"It's a relief really. I'm really happy to sign for such a big club. Just to get it over and done with is great."

Sterling was all praise for his manager, and fully expects Liverpool to finish the season strongly. "I can't say much more about the guy than what has already been said -- he's a brilliant manager," Sterling added. "The way he speaks to both young and senior players, you have to really compliment him for that. He just treats every one as one and that's really good to have at a football club.

"In the New Year, you can expect more from Liverpool, especially when the manager gets his players in. We'll stride forward and hopefully do what we know we can do."
