David Beckham's quest for a new club will take a little while longer, after the former L.A. Galaxy midfielder said he is assessing his options and is in no hurry to make a decision.
Beckham ended his stint with L.A. Galaxy after winning the MLS Cup earlier this month, and said he was looking for a new challenge.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid man has been linked with clubs in China, Australia, England, France and Italy with the 37-year-old refusing to be hurried in making a decision on what is most likely to be his last team before retirement.
"There are a number of serious proposals on the table from a host of clubs across the world," a spokesman for Beckham said.
"David is no hurry to make a decision, the key is making the right one as he has always done successfully in his career.
"It's early days in the process. David is enjoying spending quality time with his family over the holidays."
A move to Monaco, who are backed by wealthy owners, has broken down due to the players' excessive wage demands, according to French newspaper L'Equipe.
The Principality club are currently in the second division of the French league, and manager Claudio Ranieri had earlier admitted he would love to have Beckham in his team. Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has also been linked with a move to Monaco.
"Beckham keeps a passion for football, that's what interests me,' he said a couple of weeks back.
"It would be helpful in all aspects of the development of the club.
"He could share his passion with our young players, at 37-years-old, he continues to improve and be professional.
"All young players need an experienced coach but also references in the locker room."
Along with Monaco, Paris Saint Germain are also reportedly keeping tabs, while there are lucrative deals on offer for the former England international in China and Australia.
Beckham, while announcing his departure from Galaxy, had said he would like to play for a club in the Champions League.
