NFL Predictions Week 17: Peterson Doesn't Break Record, Seahawks Win the West

Adrian Peterson is chasing after the single-season rushing record, meanwhile, the Seattle Seahawks are attempting to catch the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West. Check out these bold predictions for the NFL's Week 17.

Peterson is one of the top stories of 2012. However, for people thinking he's going to break the rushing record have another thing coming. 208 yards is not impossible for Peterson, but it's an uphill battle.

The Green Bay Packers are on win mode. Clay Matthews and the Packers defense understand the importance of this game. If those guys get a couple of hard hits on Peterson, coach Leslie Frazier will not risk having the star of his offense injured.

We understand that Peterson is chasing history, but the playoffs are more important than any individual record. Once you get into the playoffs, who knows what will happen? The risk is too big for the Vikings to take. Peterson's injured abdomen might not slow him down on the field, but it will surely get in the way of the record.

Two games to keep your eye on, if you're looking for drama to follow in Week 17, are the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks matchups. The 49ers face the Arizona Cardinals while the Seahawks take on the St. Louis Rams.

Now, the Cardinals are bad, but the 49ers were upset in two games by the Rams, who aren't much better.

The Rams are perfect against their division, but let's face it, the Seahawks are not the same team they were in Week 4. The Rams beat them 19-13 back then. The Seahawks are currently one of the best teams in the league with one of the most dynamic offenses.

If the 49ers get too comfortable, they might find themselves as the winners of the Wild Card instead of winners of the NFC West.

With a loss and a Seahawks win, the 49ers would drop to 10-5-1, while the Seahawks would improve to 11-5.

Tune in on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET as we will bring you live streams to both of these games.
