EPL Transfer News: Mathieu Debuchy To Sign for Newcastle as QPR Ready Bids for In-Demand Trio

Newcastle are finally set to seal the deal for long-term target Mathieu Debuchy after reportedly agreeing a fee with Lille.

Debuchy to Newcastle was one of the most written about transfers before the start of the season, with the French international pining for a move to St James' Park all summer.

However, Lille rejected multiple bids from Newcastle for the 27-year-old in the summer, but have finally accepted the latest offer, according to reports.

Debuchy had already reportedly agreed to personal terms in the summer with Newcastle, and is now set to become the second player from Lille to join the English Premier League club after Yohan Cabaye.

The move will be made official when the January window opens in a couple of days, and Alan Pardew will be extremely relived to add some much-needed quality to his side, struggling near the bottom of the Premier League table.

Newcastle's defensive deficiencies were starkly exposed by Arsenal in a 7-3 drubbing on Saturday, with Theo Walcott helping himself to a wonderful hat-trick. Adding Debuchy, an experienced French international will go a long way in solidifying the backline as well as adding to a squad that has been decimated by injuries.

Right-back Danny Simpson is yet to agree a new deal with Newcastle, with his current one set to expire in the summer, so the signing of Debuchy will provide further insurance if Newcastle were to lose the former Manchester United player.

Meanwhile, QPR, who fell to another disappointing 3-0 defeat to Liverpool Sunday, are lining up a triple bid for Mohamed Diame of West Ham, Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila and Marseille forward Loic Remy.

Remy has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle, but Redknapp has been given a considerable warchest to try and bring in players capable of taking QPR out of the relegation mire.

QPR have bid £9 million ($14.5 million) for Remy, according to the Daily Mail, with a £7.5 million ($12 million) offer on the table for M'Vila, a long-term Arsenal target.

QPR will also trigger the £3.5 million ($5.6 million) release clause of Diame, who is currently out with an injury.
