An investigation of the death of Scott Sterling, son of Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, in underway after he was found dead at his home in Malibu.
Sheriff's homicide detectives were called to the 22600 block of Pacific Coast Highway at 11:29 p.m. on Tuesday.
It was not immediately known who reported the death.
The body was found alone, after Sterling has been missing from friends and family for a couple days. Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore has reported that investigators were looking into the death as a possible drug overdose.
Scott Sterling first made headlines back in 2009, after shooting his childhood friend, Philip Scheid, after claiming being attacked with a knife.
The shooting occurred at the home of Donald Sterling on Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills.
Police investigated the shooting quickly, but a little more than a year after the shooting, prosecutors decided not to file charges, claiming the victim was not credible.
They also called prosecutors' attention to Donald Sterling, citing the transcript of a phone call with a detective in which he appeared to resort to an attempt at intimidation or influence peddling.
