The time has finally arrived and yes we are excited! It's the No. 1 Notre Dame Fighting Irish versus Alabama Crimson Tide Monday night at 8 p.m. ET for the BCS National Championship. We have the live stream available just for you!
The Fighting Irish are No. 1 in the nation after entering the season unranked. Oh yeah, not to mention they had a perfect 12-0 in 2012.
What do they bring to the table? Well only a gay named Manti Te'o who was considered for the Heisman Trophy, an award usually handed out to offensive players. Te'o finished the season with 101 tackles and 1.5 sacks in the season.
On offense, they relied on a balanced attack of rushing and passing. They averaged 218 yards per game over the air, while their 202 yards rushing per game was good for 29th in the nation. They may not average a lot of points, but their defense was the stingiest and toughest to score on all season long. Notre Dame only gave up 10 points per game on average. The most points they gave up in the season was 26 to the Pittsburgh Panthers.
Five of their 12 games finished with their opponents scoring six points or less. If that's not a crazy good defense, then what is?
Notre Dame's opponent, Alabama is going for another national title. They wrapped their season up with a 12-1 record good for 2nd in the country. Their lone loss was to party boy Johnny Manziel and the Texas A&M Aggies.
They are the second toughest defense to score on and while Notre Dame shutout only one of their opponents, the Crimson Tide had four shutouts this season.
They bring a heavier dose off running with 224 yards per game good for 19th in the country and their offense was 13th in the nation averaging 38 points per game.
