Australian Open Schedule 2013: Important Dates of First Grand Slam of Season

As we speak, the qualifying rounds of the Australian Open are taking place. Seedings have yet to take place, but on Monday, the first grand slam tournament of 2013 will kick off. Here are the times and dates for the matches.

Important Dates of the Tournament
Write it down in your calendar! The tournament is taking place from Monday, January 14- Sunday, January 27

Monday sees the beginning of the tournament with first round singles matchups for both Men and Women.

We then fastforward to the quarterfinal of the tournament. On Tuesday, January 22 and Wednesday, January 23, Men and Women Australian Open quarterfinals take place with two matches at 11 a.m. ET and another at 7:30 p.m. ET on both days.

Men's Semifinals take place on Thursday, January 24 and Friday, January 25 both at 7:30 p.m. ET, while both Women's Semifinals will take place on Thursday, January 24.

The tournament wraps up with Men's Finals on Sunday, January 27 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Before this, however, on Saturday, January 26, Women's Finals set off at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Too bad for the NFL Pro-Bowl. Whoever makes it to the Men's Finals will surely overshadow that football game.

It will be interesting to see how the weather treats these world class athletes. New colors on weather readings in Australia have been developed adapting to the increasing temperature ranges never before seen in Australia.

Novak Djokovic will look to defend his Australian Open title in Men's Singles, while Victoria Azarenka will try to fight off challengers and protect her crown.
