Liverpool Transfer Rumours: Wesley Sneijder Could be on His Way to Anfield as Reds Make Late Move

Liverpool are preparing a last-minute bid to land Wesley Sneijder from under the noses of Galatasaray.

Liverpool, who were beaten 2-1 by Manchester United in Sunday's English Premier League game, despite a strong second half performance, are desperate to bring in some quality this month, after adding Daniel Sturridge to their ranks.

Sturridge, since joining from Chelsea in a £12 million ($19 million) move, has already scored two goals in two games, including one against United.

Brendan Rodgers is on the lookout for players who can turn the Reds from a mid-table team to one that can compete for a top-four place, and Sneijder fits the bill perfectly.

Galatasaray agreed a transfer fee with Inter Milan for the Dutch international, but Sneijder is yet to agree on personal terms, and admitted he is still looking for the right move.

"It is a difficult decision to make," he told Sky Sports 24.

"There are still two weeks until the end of the window and I still have time. See, I'm fine and I'm calm. I do not need to decide on Monday."

The 28-year-old is available for transfer on a cut-price fee, believed to be around £8 million ($13 million), with Inter Milan keen to offload their player, who refused to take a wage cut.

Sneijder has not played for Inter for over much of the season due to the wage dispute, and currently is on around £160,000 a week ($258,000).

Liverpool will find it difficult to match the salary earned by Sneijder, and that aspect is expected to be the major stumbling block in thrashing out a deal. Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre has been extensively talking to Liverpool's American owners FSG over the possibility of a move, according to the Sunday People.

If Liverpool were to add Sneijder to their squad, it would setup a mouthwatering midfield partnership with Steven Gerrard, and could be the difference maker in the Reds playing in Europe next season.
