Arsenal v Lincoln City - FA Cup Preview

National League leaders Lincoln City travel to The Emirates Stadium on Saturday to face Arsenal in the Quarter Final of the FA Cup.

This is the first time a non-league team has made it to this round since 1914 and will be looking to write their name in the history books with a win over the Premier League outfit. A place at Wembley is at stake, which is a great prize on offer, along with a jackpot city review.

Lincoln City manager, Danny Cowley, was a PE teacher this time last year. What a transformation a year makes in football as his team will be walking out on the famous Emirates Stadium turf. Speaking about his success, he says "Hard work. Relentless hard work."

When asked about Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, he says "He's forgotten more than I know. He's a pioneer. We've got huge respect for him as a man and as a manager."

"If we get on the right side of the result, it would be the biggest upset in the history of the greatest cup competition in the world."

Lincoln will be without Peterborough loanee Lee Angol, who scored a hat-trick on debut on Tuesday, as he is cup-tied for Saturday's match.

Regular starters Nathan Arnold and Matt Rhead are likely to return to the starting eleven for the clash, having been dropped to the bench midweek.

Arsenal will assess the fitness of Danny Welbeck, Alex Iwobi and Mesut Ozil prior to the game. All three have been struggling with illness and could miss the FA Cup tie.

Arsene Wenger is likely to start a handful of his younger players. Rob Holding and Jeff Reine-Adelaide started in the last round against Sutton United and will be looking to continue their run in the FA Cup.

David Ospina may keep his place in goal while Ainsley Maitland-Niles will be looking to start the fixture as Mohamed Elneny is ruled out injured.

However Arsene Wenger will be boosted by the fact he has only lost one FA Cup tie against a lower league club, against Blackburn in the fifth round in 2013.

However, the Arsenal manager has come under heavy criticism recently, after crashing out of the Champions League in spectacular style.

I have worked very hard for 20 years to make our fans happy and when you lose the games, I understand they are not happy," said Wenger.

"I do not want to judge that, I am not able to. I live in my daily work with my complete commitment."

"I think I've shown since I'm here that first of all I love this club, that I'm loyal to this club and that I make the right decisions for this club."

Meanwhile, Lincoln City defender Luke Waterfall believe some Arsenal fans may want Lincoln to beat Arsenal on Saturday. He said "Some Arsenal fans might be going there wanting us to win. If we start well, we might have 60,000 people behind us, not just 9,000."

"We will go there believing in ourselves. We won't park the bus, we will play our usual game."

"We want their big players to play. Their manager is under pressure so I would expect their big names to play."
