After serving a one-game suspension for confronting Boston's Kevin Garnett in an arena tunnel, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony found himself under strict surveillance by owner James Dolan.
According to multiple sources, Dolan had two MSG audio technicians stationed at the two corners of the court, recording every word spoken or said to Anthony during the Knicks' Friday night loss to the Chicago Bulls.
Dolan reportedly ordered the technicians to send the tape of the audio feed to him, although he did not explain why he ordered them to do the job.
Anthony was suspended for last Thursday night's game against the Pacers after confronting Garnett outside of the Celtics team bus, after the Celtics veteran allegedly said Anthony's wife La La "tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios."
"It definitely hurt my team - we had a chance to win that (Indiana) game," said Anthony. "But for the most part, things are said on the basketball court, I accept that. I accept trash talking. (But) like I said, there are things you don't say. . . ."
He returned to score 39 against the Bulls, but that while taking 32 shots. In Sunday's 100-87 win over the Hornets, Anthony scored 27.
Dolan's spying tactics are certainly strange, but they seem to signal the fact that ownership is worried about Anthony's maturity level.
